My Favorite Things: June 2015

Happy July, everyone! To start off the month, I’ll be looking back on what happened from the previous month by listing down some of my My Favorite Things from June. Here goes!

Cebu Family Trip, 2015

Bantayan Island, Cebu
Bantayan Island, Cebu

On the first week of June, my family and I flew to the island of Cebu for a five-day vacation. We went on a short cultural tour around the city, went island-hopping, did some swimming at the beach, and got to eat a lot of delicious dishes. One of my best memories though is spending those two nights at the beach. You see, the place we stayed in had a pocket beach that we had all to ourselves. So at night, we’d have some snacks outside (cold cuts and crisps) while listening the sound of the waves and watching the fishing boats glide quietly in the moonlight (the whole scenery was quite reminiscent of Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo). I will be posting a blog entry on this whole trip soon.

YouTubers and Fan Fest

Recently, there was a YouTube Fan Fest that was held near my area and unfortunately, I had only heard about it the week before the actual event when all tickets had already sold out. And it’s sad because I really wanted to see Jaspoli- which is the collective name for these British YouTubers: Joe Sugg, Caspar Lee, and Oli White.

You see, I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube lately- vloggers, especially. I’m just really inspired by them because they’re going out there- doing something they love to death, and at the same time they’re earning quite a lot from it. It’s refreshing to see those people living their lives to the fullest too and documenting the whole process of it.

One of my recent favorite YouTube channels has got to be Sprinkle of Glitter. Louise’s bubbly personality and positive outlook in life is contagious + I love all the pretty pink things she shows a lot in her videos!

Star Wars Rebels: The Siege of Lothal

Watch out. Darth Vader is back and stronger than ever!

Star Wars Rebels kicked off their second season with a one-hour TV movie event. And guess what? It was epic! Five words that made this episode awesome: Darth Vader in his prime.

I’ll leave it at that.

Jamba Juice Secret Flavors

If you’ve never heard of Hack the Menu, I’m sharing it to you now and I urge you to check it out. I only tried it recently at my local Jamba Juice and it proved to be legit. So far, I’ve tried the Pink Gummy Bear and White Gummy Bear flavors and they both taste really the good- the former being one I prefer more for its sour taste. As someone who loves Jamba Juice a lot, I hope to try the other secret flavors sometime!

  1. Your trip to Cebu sounds so much fun! I’ve only been there once for our school’s student convention, so I wasn’t able to do much sightseeing. We did get to go to the beach and go shopping. I also saw Magellan’s cross. Looked smaller than I thought! XD

    1. I’ve only been to Cebu once too! It’s a shame you didn’t get to go around much. They have so many islands to offer. And since we were only there for five days, we still didn’t get to check out the others.

I agree about Magellan’s Cross. It was tiny! I also didn’t expect it to be just in front of a school. I thought you had to like, go up some hills or something, to see it.

  2. This makes me want to go to back to Cebu! When my friends and I went there last year, we only got to go to Oslob and Bohol. We couldn’t squeeze in Bantayan Island anymore because we didn’t have much time anymore. It was still a fun experience, nonetheless. <3

The food there is delicious! My friends were actually making fun of me because I don't normally order extra rice but I always ordered extra rice every meal I had in Cebu. XD

    1. Sounds like you had fun! 🙂 In our case, we didn’t get to go to the Oslob and Bohol areas (based on some travel sites though, Bohol seems like an awesome place to go to for the beaches). Cebu just has so much to offer so it’s hard to do everything in less than a week.

I agree about the food. 🙂 I personally am not into lechon but my goodness, I had so much of it in Cebu

  3. Oh that beach in Cebu looks so pretty! I’ve only been to Cebu for a day to go to Bohol and I’ve never explored. One day hopefully!

And I saw the thumbnails from Joe’s and Caspar’s visit to Manila, I thought they were just visiting! I really like FleurDeVlog’s… vlogs haha. Who are your favourite vloggers? I occasionally watch EveryDayJim and MoreZoella but I’m always looking for more to watch!

    1. Yesss, hopefully! As for me, I hope to visit Bohol someday. 🙂

They went to Manila to do an event. 🙂 It’s a shame I only heard about it a week before so I didn’t get to buy tickets. I’ve never really checked out Fleur, but your the second person who has mentioned her, so I will go check her out now! I also watch Zoe and Jim, by the way. 😀

My favorite vlogger at the moment is Louise of Sprinkle of Glitter. 🙂 Her vlogs are oozing with sunshine and sparkly things, so I recommend checking her out if you’re looking for positive vibes. Aside from her, I’ve also been watching a lot of Joe’s vlogs with my brother lately.

    1. I agree! Jamba Juice is the best. 🙂 I’ve never tried Dragonfruit Lime yet though.

What else have you tried in their secret menu? Hoping to try some more of their flavors.

  4. The trip to Cebu sounds amazing, I can’t imagine what it would have been like to have your own personal little cove! So cute.

I am really into youtube and vloggers these days too although I only follow a few. My favourites are Bubz of Bubzbeauty and Bunny of Grav3yardgirl, Bunny sort of vlogs but does many other things too. She has a very infectious personality and seems to genuinely care for her fans.

    1. It was cool to get so much privacy in our Cebu trip. 🙂 That pocket beach is part of private property from the rentable house we stayed at.

Ohhh… I used to watch Bunny too! 😀 It’s been a while since I last visited her channel though. I guess that’s what I’ll do now. 🙂

  5. How cool to have a private beach! From that one photo Cebu looks really beautiful 😀

I’ve been slowly getting the hang of Youtube (10 years after everyone else, haha) and started to follow some people. I just subscribed to Sprinkle of Glitter, she seems awesome!
