My Workspace

Today I thought I’d give you guys a closer look on my workspace aka my sacred place for art-making, or as I call it: my Imagination Station. My workspace got featured at Portfolio MNL some months back. For some reason, I forgot that I haven’t shared it here yet! So I thought I’d do it today.

“When the sun goes down I go full blast on my creative work. For some reason, nighttime is when I’m most hyped up”

On Creative Habits: Being surrounded by inspiration helps. So I collect artwork, I frequently visit blogs of artists that I like and I read lots of books on creativity. Even before I go to bed I write my to-do list to ensure I get work done for the next day.

On Work Space: My work space a.k.a my “Imagination Station.” Two desks – One for my digital work and the other for when I draw or paint. I like this set up because I have the freedom to surround myself with my books, art, and the smorgasbord of Flotsam and Jetsam I hoard.

On Doubt: I think we all have our doubts on how to work but I try to keep in mind that we are all wired differently, and we should be confident about that. No one has the exact same thing to offer.

I love toys! Monster High is one of my recent obsessions so I got three Venus McFlytrap dolls that I now keep on my desk. I'm a visual person and I enjoy keeping myself surrounded by pretty things because it inspires me to make art.

On My Creative Books: I still have a big list of books that I'd acquire! I like spending time Googling new titles and reading book reviews. Because of that, my coveted book list is endless. I feel there's always something new to add.

On My Notebooks: My art journals are for the most part, a creative release for me. I currently have two of them. One is regular doodle journal and one a watercolor pad that I put together myself (note: the watercolor journal is the one with the "Focus" doodle). However, my journals serve a lot of purposes too: they contain motivating doodle prompts for me to get working, little ideas I come up with at 3 in the morning, random creative outburts, and the occasional meaningless doodles I do while I daydream.

    1. Thank you! I’ve made it a point to fill my workspace with artsy items so that I will constantly be inspired to create. It’s hard sometimes as an artist because I do have a tendency to work only when I’m in the mood to. Having an inspiring workspace helps!
