Recap: January

January to me served as a sort of “trial” month as I wasn’t able to accomplish anything grand. I mostly spent it watching shows, bonding with friends, and working on low-key projects. Not really a big way to start 2016. So I am hoping this February will be more focused on real-deal stuff.

Here’s a recap of what happened in January 2016:

Low-Key Projects

I worked on a couple low-key projects for my mom and her team. The projects involved illustrations, graphic design, and video editing. Some of them were even late Christmas stuff so I had to do some rush work. There was even one time where my mom and I spent the whole night cutting out hundreds of cards I designed with just scissors (our paper cutter wasn’t working as it should and we needed to get this project done asap)!

TV Shows and Binge-watching

January was a month of binge-watching. I finished seasons 2-4 of HBO Girls and I am obsessed with the show at the moment! I started watching last year but it took me soooo long to get past season 1. Once I got to know and appreciate the characters more towards the later episodes of season 1, I just flew through the whole thing.

(You can check out the Season 1 trailer above)

Also, I had just started watching the second half of season 2 of another favorite show of mine, Star Wars Rebels.

I had a bit of a reading slump in January but I didn’t let that stop me. I ended up reading three books! Here’s how I would rate them:

  • The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness – 3 / 5 stars, nice premise, but couldn’t get into it
  • Jem and The Holograms: Showtime (Trade Paperback)4 / 5 stars, beautiful art and cool characters, just wish the comics were longer
  • Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer – 4.5 / stars, excellent end to the series

Friends and Events

I met up with my college friends thrice this January. The first time was for my friend’s sister’s birthday. The second was a simple get-together at the mall. And the third was during a two-day creative conference which I will be talking about in my next entry of My Favorite Things

I Moved my Shop

moved my online shop! The reason? I value quality a lot and I want to give what’s best to my blog visitors while keeping everything affordable. I currently have Star Wars designs up but there will be other stuff soon. Please do check it out and spread the word. The shop ships internationally, by the way.

  1. Yeah I think in a way January was a ‘trial’ month for a lot of people. At times I got some stuff done, others, not so much. XD

Yay books! I really gotta check out that Lunar Chronicles series. Eventually. *has a big old pile of books she just bought, but keeps getting more* XD

    1. That’s comforting to know I’m not alone. XD

YES you *should* definitely pick up The Lunar Chronicles series! I can’t recommend it enough. 😀 Also, I feel you. I’ve got a long To-Be-Read book list that just keeps getting bigger.
