Hello everyone! I hope you all had a lovely August and I hope for even better things for everyone this September!
August flew by so quick! I mostly spent the month being sick- two weeks of the flu and the rest of the month with an uncomfortable cough. It’s all got to do with the bad, unpredictable weather- one day it’s sunny and very humid, the next it’s chilly and rainy. On the bright side, I discovered a bunch of new things this month in the books and movies department! So here are My Favorite Things from the month of August.
Inside Out (2015)
Inside Out finally opened in theaters in the Philippines last August! And I got to see it with my mom during its opening weekend. It was stellar!
If you’ve been hiding under a rock, Inside Out is about little characters who heavily influence/control a certain person while trying to defeat external forces from the inside of that said person. Let’s face it, we’d be lying if we said that that whole idea was original. We’ve gotten too many versions of that already over the years: 2001’s Osmosis Jones, that Spongebob episode that featured fine dining, that 90s Nickelodeon short series Inside Eddie Johnson (especially that one episode where they featured his mind), etc.
But… what made Inside Out special is its execution. It was beautifully and creatively made. The whole thing was also very well-put together. Personally, it made me emotional at parts- without giving too much away, I enjoyed seeing Riley’s childhood memories. I also learned a lot about the importance of a good balance of emotions.
I would watch it again in a heartbeat!
