I don’t know about you but I am still on a Marvel high because of Age of Ultron. So today, I thought I’d go and do a review of my Captain America 2: Winter Soldier Unmasked Funko Pop! He’s the first Funko Pop! I owned- I got him last year at Kapow! Universe, which is this awesome Marvel store that every fan should check out.
(For the record, I am aware that he wasn’t in the 2nd Avengers movie. But I love Bucky so much. Also: are you guys as stoked for Captain America 3: Civil War as I am?)
Captain America 2: Winter Soldier Unmasked (JJL 140530)
They have another version of the Winter Soldier (aka Bucky) where he has his goggles on. However, I chose the unmasked one just because I wanted to see more of Bucky’s face.
And here he is out of the box! The first thing I noticed is how his leather top had a brown-ish color to it- not movie-accurate. And that’s pretty sad because I loved the Winter Soldier’s killer black outfit looked in the movie. Putting those aside, another thing I noticed immediately is the not-so-nicely-done paint job on his face. But it’s all cool because the smudged paint around the eyes screamed the Winter Soldier. It gave the Pop a darker feel- similar to how the Winter Soldier was portrayed in the movie. (Sebastian Stan, you rock!)
The back’s pretty much like what you’d see in the front- same paint job and details.
If I was to purchase another figure in this line, it’d probably be Captain America. Just because his Pop version looks adorable and because he’s one of my favorite Avengers.
One thing that makes this Pop differ from my other ones is how this is a bobblehead. It’s currently the only bobblehead I own. These things are made with a different material than the usual kind of Pop: the body has this plastic toy feel while the head is also plastic but painted over with a matte feel. The head sits on this metal spring that sometimes you’d need to adjust. In my case, the Winter Soldier’s head was slightly tilting on one side- I had to twist the spring to make his head straight. Regular Pops, on the other hand, are made with a softer, rubbery type of vinyl.
Personally, I still prefer regular Pops over the bobblehead ones. The next time I’ll get a bobblehead is if Funko makes a character I reeeeaaaally like. Yep.
