My Favorite Things: April 2016

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a great month so far. I have. I know I’ve been out of the loop again due to this blogging slump (it’s a thing, I guess) + the fact that I also use a shared laptop. But I’m back at least for now, and I will be checking on all your blogs and the wonderful comments here too. Give me a few days to catch up.

For now, here’s a list of My Favorite Things from April!

Les Miserables

The international tour of Les Mis made Manila its first stop. And I just had to get tickets because Les Mis is one of my favorite musicals! I’d seen the movies-  both the 1998 and the 2012 one, seen the 10th and 25th Anniversary concerts on DVD, performed One Day More with a few friends at our theatre org, met composer Claude Michel-Schonberg back in 2012 and got him to sign my Original London Cast Recording CDs, and watched the 52-episode anime (Shoujo Cosette) from start to finish.

The show was breathtaking, the sets were quite a sight to see, and the cast- composed of Australians, British, and a few Filipinos was incredibly talented!

My family loves traveling together so to kick off our summer, we drove to Subic and stayed there from April 20 to 22. Our trip consisted of a lot of eating, some night swimming, a bit of driving around in our car, and a ton of shopping (for food!)

We only stayed for a few days and nothing major happened so I’m still not sure if I should do an in-depth blog entry on this.

Online Shop 2

I secretly opened up an online shop. It features fanmade merchandise on some of the American Idol contestants from season 15. I made a separate Twitter account for it and didn’t tie it to any of my socials. The reason? I just wanted a fresh start, no expectations and limitations on my part.

And guess what? This is the most I’ve sold in any of my online shops to date. I opened the shop in late March but there was a big increase in sales in April. You can visit the shop via this link.

Breakout Philippines

I had some second-cousins from New Zealand who came over to visit. We only got to spend two days with them so we made the most of our time. That included a trip to Breakout. Breakout is this interactive escape room where you and your companions’ main goal is to make it out. This will be done by following a series of instructions, working together, and tracking down clues before time runs out.

It was such a fun, thrilling, and challenging experience and I will be back in the future, this time with my friends in tow!

Captain America: Civil War

We ended up watching this after spending the afternoon with cousins. Because of that I didn’t get to prepare my Scarlet Witch outfit and bring my Bucky Funko Pop.

Still, I enjoyed this immensely and I think it is one of the best live-action superhero movies to date! It had a plot with substance, great acting, fun action scenes, serious dark scenes, character development, and bits of humor every now and then. This is a must-watch!

Quick thoughts on the new characters:
Black Panther was cooler than I expected. As for Spider-Man: although I thought he was hilarious and cool, and even if I enjoyed his scenes a ton I still wish they didn’t make another incarnation of him. Unpopular opinion but I miss Andrew Garfield.

April was fun but May is being great so far too. Hope it’s turning out great for you too!

  1. It would be really hard when trying to use a shared laptop and update your site. Hopefully you can beat the slump soon and feel inspired to share some more posts. 🙂

That is so wonderful that you enjoyed the show! 😀

That would have been nice to have a bit of a holiday! 😀 I have never swam at night, I can imagine it would be nice though. 😀

Congratulations on the new shop. 😀 That is really great that there has been an increase in sales. Hope it keeps going up! 😀

Hope the rest of May is awesome. 🙂

    1. I know! Many things have been going on around and I’ve put my focus more on them than this blog. I haven’t been active in my online social life, to be honest. 🙁

Thank you so much! Hope your May is swell too 😀

  2. I had the pleasure of seeing Les Miserables a few years ago in 2011 and have been armored with it every since. I’m glad you were able to see it =) And Civil War was Ah-mazing! I don’t know, I don’t really miss Andrew Garfield that much, but that’s because he felt morose a lot of the time, and angsty, and they changed Spiderman in Civil War to an actual teenager or whatever and to actually act like one. It’s interesting to see.

    1. Yay! Another Les Mis fan! 🙂 It was epic and I’d love to watch again if given the chance.

Civil War is the best superhero movie I’ve seen this year, so far. 🙂 Hehe… Andrew Garfield’s still my favorite for some reason. He just reminds me of the Spidey I see in the cartoons. I also love his chemistry with Emma Stone, who makes an excellent Gwen Stacy.
Tom Holland’s a talented guy though and I’m hoping he can show off his insane dancing/stunt skills somehow in the next Spider-Man movie.
